This year's newsletters are reproduced below with the latest first.
Newsletter No 2 - February 2008.
Happy New Year to all, welcome to 2008, may it be a safe and competitive
year.
The CAMS Supersprint Advisory Panel has this year arranged a nine round
Championship.
The first round will be at Oran Park on Sunday the 30th March. The purpose
of this Newsletter is to invite members of all CAMS affiliated clubs to
compete in this years Championship. As you will see in the attached
documentation there are classes to suit all types of cars from standard road
registered cars through to race cars. In addition to passing this
information on to your members that might be interested we would ask you to
consider making either all or part of the championship part of your own club
championship.
Attached to this Newsletter is a “2008 Registration Kit” that contains the
following documents.
- A 2008 Registration Form to be completed and returned to the State
Office for those
wishing to register for the championship, In addition to type and class
trophies there
is also a club championship conducted over the eight rounds. Please note
that the
registration fee remains unchanged at $50.00.

Newsletter No 1 - for 2008.
As another successful year of Supersprinting draws to a close it is time
to start thinking ahead to 2008. Our last event for 2007 was the
Presentation Day at Eastern Creek on Sunday 2nd December. All appeared to
enjoy the day. Thank you to Ian Heeley of the HSV Club who acted as Chief
Instructor. Approximately 60 registrants and their guests were present and
those that tried the skidpan certainly went home with smiles on their faces,
as did the many 2007 trophy winners. Congratulations once again to all the
trophy winners. I still have a few trophies to be handed out, I would
propose doing this at Round 1 in March. Alternatively if you would like to
contact me on 9894 9167 we can make alternative arrangements.
Thank you to our special guests Neil Turner and his wife Rhonda, who
attended to help present trophies to the winners and celebrate another
successful year. Neil is the CAMS NSW Chairman electfor the CAMS NSW State
Executive next year. Kerry Butchers our Championship Scrutineer and Gary
Peterson the Championship Chief Steward were also guests on the day. Thank
you Kerry and Gary for all their work during the year. Thank you also to all
the members of the Supersprint Advisory Panel for their contributions. A
very big thank you to the New South Wales Road Racing Club, the Mini Car
Club, MG Car Club Newcastle, Australian Racing Drivers Club and the Mazda
MX-5 Clubs and their members for hosting rounds in 2007. We are indeed
fortunate that most have agreed to host rounds in the 2008 Championship.
Attached to this Newsletter is your “2008 Registration Kit” that contains
the following documents.
- Your 2008 Registration Form to be completed and returned to the
State Office. Please note that the registration fee remains unchanged at
$50.00.
- A copy of the 2008 Supersprint Championship Calendar. Note that
there will be 9 rounds in 2008 with the final round being a day / night
event at Oran Park South.
- The 2008 Championship Rules basically remain unchanged from 2007. We
will again be issuing either single or double-digit competition numbers
as much as possible (double entries may go to three digits) in order to
assist the timekeepers, so enter early to avoid disappointment.
- The 2008 Vehicle Regulations also only contain minor changes; road
registered open cars will not require “roll-over protection” although it
is strongly recommended by the panel. The tyre rules for Types 1, 2, 3,
and SV have been amplified to avoid confusion concerning the definition
of treaded tyres. Non Road registered Type 3, 4 and 5 cars must have a
CAMS Logbook.
If you have any questions relating to any of these documents or the 2008
Championship then please don’t hesitate to call me on 9894 9167.
The Panel wishes you all the very best for the Festive Season and look
forward to seeing you at the first round in March 2008.
Mike Hicks.
